The Carbon M3 is a resin 3D printer developed by U.S. manufacturer Carbon. Designed for production, the machine belongs to the company’s M product range, which also includes the M1 and M2 models.
Features of the Carbon M3 3D printer
With this solution, the U.S. company seeks to expand the space of what is possible with a simplified printing experience. Based on Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis™ (DLS) technology, the M3 is designed to optimize production while delivering unprecedented final part quality. It features a maximum print volume of 189 x 118 x 326 mm and a resolution of 75 µm, both the same as the M2. These features make it ideal for the most industrial sectors where speed of manufacturing is key. Finally, Carbon’s M3 features an enclosed enclosure and a touchscreen control panel, and can be connected via Ethernet and USB cable.
In terms of improvements from the earlier models in the series, the M3 offers enhanced user interaction thanks to the better UI with status-lighting and sounds, and new functionality at the printer. The Carbon M3 has been designed to be installed in mere hours, and the user has the ability to relocate the printer as they wish. This flexibility is hugely important for users with multiple offices or print spaces, and is a benefit not offered by most 3D printers due to size or weight constraints. Not only is the M3 easy to use, the print speed has also been improved. Better heat management means that dental models can be printed up to 2.5x faster than the M2 printer.
The M3 is included in the subscription with regular OTA (over-the-air programming) software updates. It also integrates a service package with real-time in-house support and preventive maintenance to optimize machine uptime.
Carbon printers retail from $25k per year, and come equipped with a variety of packages depending on the user needs.
